This is one of the best pieces of advice! My dad says this to me all the time, he is now 81 and only started his companies in his 50s and said he doesn't regret one thing about how he spent those first 50 years.

Reflection... is it really needed in business? --Absolutely! When I genuinely sat down and had a good look into the past year, all the learning opportunities, all the "mistakes" and "failures". I cringed, but I realised I wasn't growing if I didn't look back and cringe at myself.By reflecting, I could stop giving myself such a hard time thinking I had to be just as good as this person or that person and was truly happy just being better than I was a year ago. I think reflecting on past experiences is valuable for business as it provides clear lessons on what to avoid in the future. However, I believe it's even more crucial for personal growth. Seeing your own development through the lens of business challenges offers profound insights into individual progress and resilience. So yes, use reflection within your business not in a negative but to see growth and personal development. I am probably going to look at this post in a year and think "wtf" ... but hey least by then I would have grown right :) Photo Credits: Pinterest

Smiling is free to do and is contagious... Your one smile could become thousands of smiles—dopamine, endorphins and serotonin are all released when smiling. So not only do you feel better but so does the other person. What a small act of kindness could do :)

Start a company they say, it's easy!! Said no one ever and if they are saying this ... it is a load of nonsense. The reality is you will have many high moments but you will also have a ton of crap ones too. One thing everyone keeps saying (and I am starting to take on board) is to enjoy the journey! The most important thing I have learnt in 's first year was to find what I am naturally good at/ love doing and give work to others that I feel drains me or that I am honestly just terrible at (no matter how many hours I put into learning and improving). Happy (just over) one year .

What a hectic few weeks, after a month in bed with my health in the toilet. I am feeling ready to get back into the swing of things.L&C has been doing incredible things from signing Replay Jeans South Africa to taking Hydraulics Stores to new heights. I am super proud of the team and so grateful to work with such kind and caring people! I felt so guilty for "resting" and that I was letting the team down and it was something my dad said (the usual "in my day") that made me realise I was like a restless chicken constantly feeling like I had to do more, be more, achieve more. "The rate race" and I often don't take the time to stop, rest and properly recover before entering back into the workforce. So... take a moment for you. Rest when your body tells you to, and now and then live in the "in my day" kind of mindframe. Photo credits: Pinterest

As promised in my previous post, I will share a little more about L&C, why we started the company, what we are currently doing, how we see the future going, and who is behind the madness. Why We Started:We set out on this journey with a distinct aim: to transform the approach businesses take towards their digital presence, recognising that it's just one facet crucial to their success. We saw a gap in the market where traditional agency-client relationships fell short. We felt that true success lies in forming partnerships rather than simply serving as service providers. By deeply understanding our clients' businesses and working collaboratively with them, we believed we could achieve mutual success. What We're Doing Now:We are focusing heavily on business solutions and not just digital ones whilst we offer a comprehensive suite of digital services tailored to meet the diverse needs of our partners. We love solving problems no matter their origin within the business. Our Vision for the Future:Looking ahead, we envision further evolution and expansion. We're committed to staying at the forefront of industry trends and technologies, continuously refining our offerings to deliver even greater value to our partners. Our goal is to remain agile and adaptable, ensuring we always meet the evolving needs of our clients. The Faces Behind the Madness:Behind Local and Co. are a team of passionate individuals driven by a shared vision of empowering businesses to thrive in all areas of business and do whatever it takes to be successful. Led by Weston Crewe, our diverse team brings together a wealth of expertise and creativity to fuel our mission forward.Photo Credits: Pintrest

I've never fully utilised LinkedIn's potential, but I'm ready to change that. Let's start by introducing myself properly, covering the who, what, where, why, and how of it all.Who: Hi, I'm Tali. What (you should know about me): I graduated in 2019 with a BA Hons in Marketing Management, focusing on entrepreneurship in my third year. While having a degree is super valuable, I feel it sadly didn't do much for me in the long run, besides learning how to swirl and down a WKD in a couple of seconds, most of what I was taught has since had a "glow-up". After I graduated, all the marketing jobs I applied to required I have a minimum of one year of experience which I obviously did not have, after getting multiple rejections I ended up working in various jobs across different industries. I won't dive into all the finer details, but here's a quick summary: I worked for bad bosses, was promised promotions that never happened, tried starting a couple of businesses that didn't work out (and shed a few tears over them, then saw Steven Bartlett fail fast movement and understood the benefits of failing), and then realised maybe it wasn't me but my environment that needed to change. So, I made some changes.Where (things changed): I moved to Cape Town from Johannesburg, where I co-founded L&C within a few months. I found the right people who would mentor me and help grow a business together. I am not saying move city and all your problems will vanish, it was just the right move for me. Why (now): Recently completing a digital marketing course Basecamp Skills to be exact, because my WDK skills weren't going to help me, my mind was opened to the importance of building a social media presence. How (I plan to give back via LinkedIn): I seem to be in the fastest growth period in my life I am learning something new about business, life, and self-growth every day. I'll share raw details about growing a start-up, evolving as a person, and expanding my mindset.Well that's me. I'm excited to start having conversations, sharing stories and helping even just one person with their journey. Keep an eye out for my next post – where I'll dive into more about L&C, and the epic journey it has been thus far.
